Zion's board of trustees has installed user password controls on the church copier after learning that thousands of copies were run on the machine in the past month for non-church business. Those who need to use the machine will either have to receive a password or have an authorized user sign on to make the usage possible.
The machine will be available for use by Sunday school teachers on Sunday mornings and to authorized users at any time. Those who are authorized to use the machine must make sure they log off when they have completed their business.
It costs the church about 5 cents per copy to run the machine, and copy paper costs more than $30 a case.
Trustees are considering some kind of system that would allow general use of the machine in return for a copying fee.
