Scrapbooking event raises more than $900

Posted on Mon, Jun 3, 2013

The June 1 scrapbooking event organized by Melissa Gregg raised more than $900 for ministries at Living Hope Mission, in Haiti.

Melissa organizes four events each year, and the events have raised thousands of dollars for mission work both here at home and globally. At each event, the church provides meals, an Internet connection, and work tables. Scrapbookers pay a fee to attend the event, and all funds raised are used for mission work.

Church members support the scrapbooking events by providing donations of food, by cooking and cleaning, and by setting up and taking down tables.

Melissa is also in the process of collecting donations of items that can be used at Living Hope. It is a non-denominational ministry based in Cap Haitian, on the north shore of Haiti. Living Hope has opened more than a dozen churches and 10 schools in the poorest mountain regions of Haiti. It also sponsors medical mission teams, offers veterinary assistance to poor villagers, and makes small-business loans that help families to become self-sustaining.

Zion has sent teams to Living Hope on a regular basis since Rev. Keeler came in 2008. Melissa has visited the mission several times.
