Team returns safely to Ottawa County
A mission team from Elliston Zion and Unity United Methodist churches returned safely from New Hampshire Aug. 30 after completing most work on construction of a small barn at Camp Mills, a camp operated by Mountain Mentors.
The team was led by Bob Duffy, a member of the Mentors board of directors, and included Rev. Lawrence Keeler, Melissa Gregg, Corey Stulpin, Mike Andryc, Leslie Vogelpohl, and Robert Hubley, a member from Unity.
The group constructed a 12X16-foot shed in a wooded area of the camp. The building will be used as an equipment and operations shed for the campground. Only a few details need to be completed. Another team will return next spring to install some trim and to construct a main door and a loft door for the building.
A rainy day early in the week made it necessary for the team to work extra-long days and to forgo a day of sight-seeing later in the week. The building was built using rough-cut New Hampshire and Maine lumber, including hemlock structural timber, and it features a metal roof.
Photos of the team at work are available to be viewed on the Photos tab of this website.
