Looking for Volunteer Greeters

Posted on Thu, Nov 29, 2012

Jean Smith will present a proposed plan to set up a formal program in which volunteers will stand ready before church school and worship each Sunday to greet and assist guests to our church.

We are looking for couples and groups of all ages who will agree to wait near entrances to the church prepared to help those who come to Zion and who may not yet know their way around. They will greet all persons who enter, of course, but their primary function will be to make sure that new guests can find the facilities and services they need and are made to feel welcome.

Eventually, we hope to expand the project, if volunteers come forward, to provide valet parking for persons who have mobility issues or who need to avoid exposure to bad weather. Valet parkers would greet vehicles just outside the narthex entrance and would then park and retrieve the cars before and after worship, making it possible for visitors to simply exit their vehicles and enter the church.

It has been suggested that various classes and groups might consider volunteering to serve in such capacities for a month at a time.

If you are interested in being a greeter or have questions about the program, please speak with Jean.
