Kerry Clark to appear Feb 27

Posted on Mon, Feb 25, 2013

Matthew Keeler, son of Rev. Keeler, was forced to cancel his Feb. 27 appearance at the Trinity/Zion joint Lenten service after he suffered third-degree burns over much of his right hand in a kitchen accident.

Matt is healing, but much of his hand is swathed in special bandages, and he is unable to move his fingers very well. He needs assistance even to dress himself at this point. Most of his music sung to guitar or hurdy-gurdy, both instruments which require use of both his hands.

Kerry Clark, music director at Maumee UMC and a well-known local Christian musician, agreed to fill Matt's slot with only three days' notice.

Kerry appeared at Zion as part of our 2012 Lenten series. He is an accomplished guitarist, a man of deep personal faith, and a long-time local folk and Christian musician. He was at one time part of the New Christy Minstrels, and he has played at countless local venues in recent years. He has issued six CDs and performs a mix of his own work and that of other artists.

Please pray for Matt's continued healing and a prayer of thanks for Kerry's dedication and willingness to perform with little time to prepare. Pray that God might inspire Kerry.

This year's Lenten series began with a program that differed slightly from our usual formats. Sister Gemma, a Franciscan nun from Our Lady of Lourdes in Genoa, performed a 15-minute dramatic representation of the woman at the well, described in John 4. The service opened with a guided meditation and included a hymn sing, a time of prayer, and a collection for our churches' mission work.
