Class to examine church history

Posted on Wed, Nov 28, 2012

Christianity 101 on Wednesday evenings

The Christianity 101 class will turn to an examination of church history in December, looking in particular at the evolution of various creeds, early persecution in the church, the growth of the church into the official religion of the Roman empire, the Reformation, and United Methodist history.

Along the way, class participants will learn about key historical figures in the life of Christianity, including Anthony, Augustine, Origen, Tertullian, and all of the great reformers. We will spend some time on Luther, Calvin, John Wesley, and other reformers.

When we turn to United Methodist history, we will learn about the Wesley brothers, Francis Asbury and the circuit riders, and key figures in the Evangelical church.

Please join us. Class begins promptly at 6:15 each Wednesday and runs for 45 minutes. Participants are welcome to join the WOW team for supper at 5:45 p.m. if they wish.
