Back to Church Sunday June 7

1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Dear Elliston Zion Family,
I pray this finds you healthy, at peace and in anticipation of our return to worship at Elliston Zion.
After much consideration, the Leadership and Ministry Teams have been working to formulate a plan to return to our weekly worship space in a safe, socially distanced and responsible manner.
So, on June 7th at 10:00 AM, we will return to worship at Elliston Zion!
Things may look a little different, but it will be a joy to be back in the presence of our church family.
There will be just a few guidelines to follow as we slowly return to our “new normal.”
We will be joining for worship in the fellowship hall with chairs only (no tables). Chairs will be spaced out accordingly, but household groups may sit together.
There will be one entrance in and out of the church. The narthex door to the parking lot will be propped open. Please do not enter from any other door.
There will be no breakfast or Sunday School at this time. We will have the coffee on with disposable cups, individual creamers and sugar packs only.
There will be no bulletins or hymnals. Everything will be projected on the screen.
The doors to the Sunday School rooms, nursery and play room will be closed. We ask that no toys be brought into the worship space.
We will celebrate Holy Communion but the elements will come in self-contained packages which will be handed out individually.
We will not pass the offering plate, but the offering plates will be set at the entrance.
Please use the hand sanitizer that will be available at the door. Masks are encouraged and there will be masks available at the door for your use.
Please maintain your “social distance” from each other whenever possible.
If you are ill, have a fever or have been exposed to COVID-19, please refrain from coming to worship.
The worship space, restrooms and narthex will be sanitized following each service.

If you do not feel comfortable coming back to worship in person, that is understandable.
We will be recording the services and will make CDs available for those without internet access. For those with internet access, we will continue to broadcast our services on our Elliston Zion UMC Facebook page. If you would like a copy of the service, please call the church at 419-862-3166 and leave a message. We will mail it or drop it off to you.
We encourage you to use your prayer and discernment on what your worship will look like during this time, and always remember that your Ministry Team is here for you no matter which worship option (in person or at home) you pursue.

“I rejoiced with those who said to me “let’s go to the house of the Lord” (Psalm 122).

While some will come back to church sooner than others, the most important thing is to worship. Please invite others to worship, too. Some friends or neighbors may be without a church at this time. Please invite them to worship…wherever it may be for you. Worship is essential, wherever it happens!

The LIGHT Neighborhood Pantry continues to operate despite the current conditions. We continue to partner with St. John in Williston to provide weekly supplemental food bags to those in need. This ministry will continue through June. To date, we have distributed almost 200 food bags!

The LIGHT Neighborhood Pantry will open again on Weds. June 10th from 5-7 PM. We will be following social distancing guidelines here also, only allowing 2-3 guests into the space at one time, asking patrons to wait in their vehicles until called, suspending snacks and sanitizing each cart often.
We are always seeking donations of non- perishable food items and personal items. We would like to thank those who continue to support the pantry through their financial gifts, too!

This month, we are seeking donations of
Spaghetti Noodles
Pasta (macaroni, etc.) or Egg Noodles
Cereal
Canned Meat (beef, chicken, tuna)
Bathroom Tissue
Bar soap
Toothpaste

Volunteers have been delivering food bags to those senior citizens in the Elmore area who have been affected by the bridge closure on Rt. 51. This ministry will also continue through June.

Please continue be in prayer for Elaine and the Tolliver family as they mourn the earthly loss of Johnnie.

Also, if you would, say a little prayer for me as I start my “Local Pastor’s Licensing School” next week, which has been changed from a 5 day class to an online format which will last for 5 weeks. Thanks in advance!

On behalf of the Leadership and Ministry Teams, I want to thank each and every one of you who has continued to support your church during this crisis. Our small but mighty church family has continued to serve in the church and out in the mission field…serving the Lord and making disciples as we have been called to do. We are truly a church who lives up to our purpose…to be and share the LIGHT of Christ!

Loving God and each other*Inviting others to Christ*Glorifying God* Helping the World*Teaching the Word….That’s Elliston Zion!

Blessings of health in body and in spirit to each of you.

In HIS Service,

LisaAnne
