Advent worship to examine key figures

Posted on Wed, Nov 28, 2012

Worship staffing also set

Rev. Keeler will focus on key figures in the Advent stories during each of the four weeks of Advent this year.

The series will begin Dec. 2 with a service that focuses on Zechariah, the priest who was father to John the Baptist. His story is told in Luke 1. Later services will look at Elizabeth, who was John the Baptist's mother; Joseph, and Mary.

The choir will provide special music on the first and third Sundays of December, and a full array of special musicians will appear later in the month. The chimes choir will play on Dec. 16.

Our Advent services will conclude at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 with a candlelight communion service and children's presentation of the manger scene.

Worship staffing in December is as follows:

Dec. 2 -- Brenda Hellwig, liturgist; Ken Leist, prayer; Isaiah Nevel, acolyte; Amy Sutter, lounge prayer. Communion stewards are Patricia Young, Holly Vogelpohl, and Sherry Keeler. Lorene Klingbeil is organist, and the choir will provide special music.

Dec. 9 -- Jim Nevel, liturgist; Chuck Smith prayer; Amy Sutter, organist; Patrick Young, acolyte; Ben Sutter, lounge prayer; Patricia Stoycheff-Lacumskey, special music.
