Nine youths will partcipate in this year's Winter retreat to Camp Michindoh, departing from Zion at 4 p.m. Jan. 25 and returning to the church about 3 p.m. on the 27th.
The retreat offers special worship and training opportunities, along with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor fun projects. On last year's retreat, three youtts gave their lives to Christ.
Through a variety of fund-raising projects, including gifts from volunteers, a dinner, and special targeted donations, the group has raised more than $500 to help pay for the retreat. Youth Director Jim Nevel will be collecting medical releases and emergency contact information from parents in the coming weeks.
The group is already talking about a possible mission trip to New Hampshire this summer and about adopting a child with cancer as a special project. It has tentatively scheduled its lock-in and summer kickoff for the third weekend of May. The group always leads that week's worship service and makes a special effort to include friends and potential new members.
