Mentors mission team hits road

Eight from church/area going to New Hampshire

Eight persons will hit the road this week to journey 1,000 miles to northern New Hampshire, where they will build a deck, refinish floors, paint, and do general camp maintenance work at Camp Mills, a camping facility operated by the Mountain Mentors.

The Mentors is a Toledo-area group that works with delinquents and at-risk teens, providing a full year of one-on-one adult mentoring and a week-long outdoor/wilderness experience for the teens.

The Zion team has purchased more than $1,000 worth of supplies to build the deck and will purchase additional supplies and rent equipment to refinish floors in a home in the camp. Members of the team are Rev. Keeler and his wife Sherry; Patricia Young, Melissa Gregg, Michael and Laurie Andryc and their daughter, Carrie, and Bob Duffy, a member of Unity UMC who has supervised development of the camp facility for the past 10 years.

The group was warned to exercise extreme caution during their visit because of a black bear that has visited the campground every night in search of food. The bear has ripped apart storage lockers, chewed up cintronella candles, and caused other minor damage. Because of its presence, persons using the camp are required to remove all garbage from the camp each evening.

Please hold the group and each of its individual members in prayer during their week-long mission journey.
