How may I become a member of Elliston Zion UMC?
Speak with the pastor. One or two times a year, he offers a series of membership classes. Members must be baptized Christians. If necessary, the pastor can arrange for your baptism.
Must members make a commitment to give a certain percentage of their income?
Those who become members of Elliston Zion UMC do promise, as do all United Methodists, to support the church through giving. We teach and preach that 10 percent of income is a desirable goal for family giving, but we do not require that members give that much. The expectation is that as members learn more about God, they will seek to become more like God. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son..." God is generous, and so are Christians.
